it’s been months since i blogged, so i’m going to try to catch us up here. these pics are from october 2008, when we went to happy place (mom & dad’s lakehouse)…

It’s been a long time since I’ve written… again.
We’ve been extremely busy – between Kendall adjusting to kindergarten & Cooper adjusting to preschool, many sicknesses for all of us, Daddy doing marching band at Lugoff-Elgin High School, Mama doing my first craft bazaar, hosting visitors & more. Life is definitely “ in progress” around here!!!
Today was Kendall’s first field trip, and Mama got to chaperone!

when’s the last time you’ve seen cooper? well, if it’s been awhile, let me reintroduce you…
he’s a mess…
he’s mama’s sweet boy…
he goes & goes & goes…
he runs, jumps, climbs, and really loves hopping on one foot…
he’s into everything…
he loves workin’ with his daddy, going to the dump in daddy’s black monster truck, and being a boy… someday he wants to go on a “huntin’ date” with daddy too. and he has a great fake redneck accent!!! : )
he starts preschool tomorrow & mama’s really gonna miss that sweet raspy voice (“mama, mama, mama, mama, watch ‘dis, i can jump high, i can do a flip, i can race really fast, mama, watch ‘dis”). he’ll be there every monday, wednesday, & friday morning… giving mrs. deedee & ms. delores a run for their money…
we call him chicken nugget, tater tot, goofball, buddy, big boy, and cooper dooper. but you all know him as coop…

today was the first day of kendall’s kindergarten year at lugoff elementary…
she’s so proud of her new backpack, and new outfit mama made her!!!
we woke up at 6:30am (WOW THAT WAS EARLY), and were out the door by 7:20. (school starts at 7:40am) ***NOTE: prior to kindergarten, we were lucky to be out of bed by 8:00!!!***
after about 5 minutes of snuggling in bed, she was ready to get going. she’s been asking “how many more days til kindergarten?”, about 5 times a day for the past month.
after a bizarre breakfast of fruity cheerios & a scrambled egg (?!?!?!?), we were in the car (daddy followed us in his work truck)…
cooper was barely awake, but couldn’t wait to go to sissy’s school & “learn about jesus” (3-year-olds don’t know about separation of church & state).
cooper will start preschool on friday, but that’s another post, and another emotional trainwreck for mommy.
we arrived at the school parking lot, and kendall said, “mama, can you just let me out at the door? i can walk in by myself.” i said, “like hell you will!!!” (ahem) “no, we’re going to walk you in today & tomorrow, and then after that you can walk in by yourself.” THROW ME A BONE HERE, SQUIRT!!!
so she made it to her classroom, walked in as confidently as one could imagine, and broke her mother’s heart made her mommy proud. she let me give her a kiss & take a picture, and we left. no tears were shed. i cried a little on the inside, but i know she’ll be just fine. she’s such a big girl. can you believe kendall elizabeth denny, 1-30-2003, 9:46am, 6 lbs 9 oz, 19.5 inches long, is in KINDERGARTEN?
don’t tell her classmates, but she still lets me rock her. : )

the kids and i visited aunt brookie in johnson city, tennessee, this past weekend. daddy went to asheville with some buddies, so you won’t see him in this post. we hiked 1/2 mile to this 40+ foot waterfall. the kids started tearing their clothes off as soon as it was in sight… and began climbing. there was a brief rain shower soon after we got there, which made it even more magical. it was wonderful!!!

we’re gearing up for the start of kindergarten for kendall and preschool for cooper…
kendall starts monday, august 18th & cooper starts friday, august 22nd.
kendall got her school letter today, which told us that her new teacher will be ms. meek. she’s new to lugoff elementary, but has been teaching for 4 years. we’re very excited to meet her!!!
we should find out soon who cooper’s teacher is going to be at bethesda.
our lives are really about to change!!!! the plan is for daddy to take kendall to school in his “Stock Truck”, and mommy will take cooper to preschool. i’ll really miss having my babies at home, but they’re ready…
the kids & i are headed to aunt brookie’s house in Johnson City, TN, this weekend… daddy’s off to asheville for a guys’ weekend… so hopefully we’ll all come back with pictures & stories to share.

10 YEARS AGO: i was listening to Dave Matthews “CRASH” cd in my dorm room at Elon College, dressing for class (or a party… let’s get real here).
TODAY: my children are having a dance party to Dave Matthews “CRASH” cd in my living room in Lugoff, in their dressup clothes (princess & clown).
WOW! life has changed.

we visited grammy & popei on joe’s pond, and had seven days of relaxation and fun…
daddy went kneeboarding for the first time in years…
… and he could still ride backwards!!! GO DADDY!!!!!!!!!!
we caught a few fish off the dock… but it’s nothing like reelin’ em in off cudjoe key…
the kids and daddy went for a sail…
captain cooper tried out his driving skills on popei’s little whaler…
“uncle buddy” came to visit from boston, and went for a paddle on the kayaks… kendall calls them kay-AKS…
uncle dane came over from concord, new hampshire, but he didn’t stay long enough for us to take his picture! : ) he joined us for dinner & games two nights.
and aside from shopping trips to the glassman, zutano (i managed to get out of there without spending a dime!), and the shops in montpelier, mommy did a whole lot of nothing… just what i needed after several very hectic weeks of packing & traveling to & from the lake…
now we’re all refreshed & ready to tackle whatever the last few weeks of summer vacation hand us. daddy’s back in the swing of things at stock building supply, and the kids and i are enjoying being back at home together. love you all… thanks g&p for a wonderful time!!!

i don’t have many pictures to prove it, but kendall & cooper were fortunate enough to spend 2 1/2 weeks at Happy Place this summer (among other weekend trips). they had a blast playing on the beach, riding on the boat & aunt brookie’s seadoo, riding the golf cart, and TUBING!!!

their trip began in the back of mrs. lorien’s minivan on wednesday june 25th. lorien and mommy piled all 5 kids in the back and drove to lake gaston. the daddies and nana & papa joined us for the weekend. we all celebrated cooper’s 3rd birthday together with some “peanut nut cake” (aka butter pecan cake – his choice!!!), hot dogs & hamburgers, and lots of presents. the owens left sunday night, and mommy & daddy left early monday morning. then kendall & cooper had PAPA CAMP!!!!! they played hard & slept hard, from what i hear. back at home, mommy & daddy went to work and got the house ready to put on the market, then drove back to the lake thursday to celebrate the 4th of july. mommy & daddy came home again on sunday morning and went back to work packing & cleaning. the kids stayed for nana & papa camp the next week, and coughed a bunch, cooper got an ear infection, but i hear it was a good fun week. mommy picked up nanny ruth & papa joe on her way back to the lake on friday… stayed the weekend… and brought everyone back home on sunday july 13th. WHEW!!!!

if there was ever any doubt i need a new camera…
kendall graduated from bethesda christian preschool in may & we’re so proud. she loved her teachers, mrs. april & mrs. tyann. she did lots of beautiful artwork & learned so much in preparation for kindergarten. cooper is super excited to start school there in the three-day 3’s class this august.
